Introduction

You have just become an expert on your shapes, now's your chance to show the world just how much of an expert you are! Today you and a partner will explore the world around you and take pictures and collect samples of all the shapes you just learned. Not only are you going to take pictures and collect samples but also look in magazines. You will then present your findings to the class. Good luck!

Task

After collecting all your pictures and objects, you and your partner must present your findings to your fellow explorers. You will only present 10 findings that were your favorite to your fellow classmates. When you share your findings, make sure you tell everyone what shape it is and why you chose that one to present to the class. You must have at least 1 picture, 1 sample object and 1 magazine picture. There also must be at least 2 circles, 2 squares, 2 triangles and 2 rectangles. Be sure to also dress the part of an explorer or photegrapher. There will be a extra credit for those who decide to dress up!

Conclusion

I want the children to see that shapes exist in more places than just a textbook. They can see there are shapes all around them all the time. Being able to recognize these shapes will help give the children a greater self confidence. They can see that what they are learning in class actually applies to their life outside of class.
